The Hot Mess Tribe gets a promotion!

Hello out there Hot Mess Nation. I have good news and bad news. Which would you like to hear first…? Ok good news first. Can you believe when the world shut down for covid it was almost 3 years ago?!?!? I have this weird sense of time since then. Someone recently asked me how long we’ve been doing Hydrafacials at hot mess and I said almost 3 years I think, but it’s actually almost 5. The world keeps turning, thankfully.


Right so the good news… If you are a client at Hot Mess you know how incredible my Tribe is. They work so hard, and are turning out the most beautiful hair, makeup, nails, skin, and customer service. They are nothing short of extraordinary. Many of them grew up at the salon, starting as assistants and working their way up to stylists etc. I feel like such a proud mama. Beyond the salon many of the tribe are friends and socialize together as well. We have a wonderful Hot Mess Family.


Over the years I’ve tried many different product lines. I am always trying to bring the best for clients to take home and use to maintain the investment they made on the service at the salon. I also want to provide top quality products for the staff to use to create and perform these luxury services. After over 2 decades in this business, I feel confident that we carry incredible products at the front of the house. We also use the best products, color, skincare behind the scenes.


These choices are not just about what we use to create. It’s also about the companies and brands I choose to partner with that support me as an owner and the artists themselves. I’m not choosing product lines that are trendy or flashy. I want quality. I want you to know that the investment you are making is because of a thoughtful, thorough decision on my part and won’t be replaced next week.


The support we receive from these companies isn’t just a weekly sales rep visit. They sit down with me to plan education for the tribe. They look at my numbers and help set goals. They create incentives for the staff, so they can make a little extra at the end of the week, or get a gift card to a favorite restaurant. Quality on the shelves, and quality behind the scenes.


In addition to this support, the education that we receive is top of the line. You can feel confident that the continuing education at Hot Mess for the tribe is the best of the best.

We take classes in various color techniques, haircutting, extensions, product knowledge, skin care, bridal hair and makeup and customer service. All of these things are allowing the tribe to grow and learn and become even better at what they do.


The bad news…. Inflation. We all see it touching every part of our lives. Everything has become more expensive. Many of the items we need to do our job safely and effectively have tripled or quadrupled in price. In the midst of a pandemic, when everyone was going through a challenge at every turn, I didn’t want to complicate things by increasing prices dramatically. At this juncture, it’s almost impossible to not increase our pricing structure for two reasons. First, we simply can’t continue to operate, and give the same quality services without doing it.


Second, The Hot Mess Tribe works so hard and is so diligent about continuing education. They deserve to be compensated and rewarded for their efforts. So, I hope you will join me in celebrating the tribe as we give them a promotion! They, without a shadow of a doubt deserve it! You will see the increase just before thanksgiving this year 11/22/22. I have also added a soft guide to the new pricing by stylist at the bottom of this post.


OK, now that we’ve discussed the good and the bad news, I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the loyalty, the support, the positive reviews, the referrals, the client selfies and every other amazing thing you do to keep the hot mess express on track!


As we’re rounding out three crazy years full of covid ups and downs, I want you to feel confident that Hot Mess is stronger than ever. We are 6000 square feet of awesomeness in Asbury Park, and the little salon that could… Hot Mess West End is almost ready to open.


We have some really exciting announcements in the coming months!!!! Keep an eye out for news about our new VIP loyalty program. We want to give back to you for all that you do for us! We will also be debuting some new membership programs.
